Have you ever asked your child what he wants to be someday? One time he might have wanted to be a doctor. Or, maybe one time he said, he wanted to be a leader. During development, a child’s dreams may change many times.
It must be fun. You see the little one growing up with a particular talent. You may have children whose talent is to lead others. But in reality, leadership is a skill that can be learned and developed in every child. Leaders do not necessarily direct others, but they can get to know themselves very well so that they can control themselves properly.
In general, the following are character traits we expect our leaders to have: independence, good communication skills , honesty, integrity (the ability to carry out tasks with full dedication), the ability to cooperate with others while coordinating tasks with a team, initiative, responsibility, and problem solving ability.
Great people always start with a big dream and by the strength of their mind achieve it. Well, what if your little one becomes one of these great people?
Appreciate their dreams
Dreams (ideas) are the result of thought and stimulation by all a child’s senses. The more stimulation, the more developed their dream will be. Give appreciation by listening to your children’s dreams and ideas and by asking a variety of questions. Possibly, you may even present new ideas, so that your child’s ideas develop. Therefore, children accustomed to believing that their ideas can be developed, are not quickly satisfied with what they have got.
Their dreams have always been fickle? That’s OK!
Children’s desire is great, especially if they receive a lot of stimuli. Parents should provide enough stimulation and freedom of expression for their children.
Introduce a lot of professions
Children need to be informed about a variety of professions. Then, they may see that there are many options and can choose what they prefer.
The feeling of failure
Failure is one of the elements of the process. Failure teaches kids to be powerful, not despair, and know how to evaluate, find solutions and make improvements.
Recommend good values
Good values and belief in God helps children overcome their failure, hence they can go on, and move forward. This belief leads them not to rely solely on their own ability. The children will become more humble.
What ever your children want to be, the parents’ task is to support and help children discover their dreams and a way to make it happen. Encourage them to dare to do something which is not only beneficial to their own life, but also to people’s lives around them. Convince them that whatever their chosen job field later on, they can become leaders of the future full of talent; leaders who have the ability to make a positive difference and make the world a better place to live.
